Tyler Luckenbill's Book Report on "Gregor and the Code of Claw"

Name: Tyler Luckenbill

Title of Book: Gregor and The Code Of Claw

Author: Suzanne Collins

What was the problem in the book, and how was it solved? Be specific.
The problem is that rats are taking over a city called Regalia and killing the townsfolk there.
They solve this by killing the Bane (also known as: Pearlpelt), a murderous leader rat who wants
war with the humans and to eliminate mice from the underland.  He does this with the help of his
bond, Ares, who is a bat and former bond to Henry, Luxa’s betraying cousin. Luxa, a rebellious
princess, and Howard, a life saving doctor who saved Gregor many times, defeat the rats.

What was the author's purpose or purposes in writing the book? Explain how you know.
The author's purpose is to entertain. The story has huge animals like bats, spiders, cockroaches,
and rats that aren't as big in real life.  The animals talk, but in the real world they don’t.

What did the title have to do with the book?
The Code Of Claw is a very important code they must break or all is lost in their war.

Tell in your own words how the setting of the story made it more interesting. Be specific.
The story was made interesting by using all the dramatic scenes like in one scene they had been
in smoke and ash covered cave and how the author made it so chaotic to make you want to want
to read more.
If one of the characters visited our classroom, what question would you ask them? (Make sure
the question relates to the plot/problem/actions of the story.) *Give the name of the character
with the question!!*
If one of the characters was allowed to visit our classroom, I would like it to be Gregor.  I would
ask him how it felt for him to fight the Bane the second time.

Pretend you are a librarian recommending the book to someone. Write a paragraph telling what
you would say.
“I recommend this book because it is very interesting.  It’s about a 12 year old who gets into a
war with rats and other creatures.  In the book, Gregor follows these markings called prophecies,
in which one calls for his death.  In the second war with the rats, Gregor kills the Bane, but Ares
dies too and Gregor feels to be dying as well.  At the end, Gregor realizes he did not die and has
a happy life with his friends and family afterwards.”

If they made a movie of this book, which scene would be most important to include. Explain the
scene with details and why it's important.

The most important part they should add is when Gregor fights the Bane the first time.
It is important because if Gregor hadn’t cut of the Bane’s tail, the story would not be the same.

  1. You did a good job for the most part. You did forget to answer the second part of question 1. It also gets confusing on the question about the title of the book. All in all it was pretty good.
