Devyn Agosti's Book Report on "Tides of War: Endurance"

Name: Devyn Agosti

Title of Book: Tides of War: Endurance

Author: Alexander London

What was the problem in the book, and how was it solved? Be specific. The problem in this book is
Ryan Keene and his sea lion Hansel are attempting to retrieve an object from the ocean floor when
the weather gets too intense and the duo has no clue which way to go to get out. To add to this
nightmare, a team of mercenary soldiers are set out to capture them. The way this problem is solved
is by the pair staying hidden and averting danger from the mercenaries, along with waiting the
terrifying weather out.

What was the author's purpose or purposes in writing the book? Explain how you know. The author’s
purpose in this book is to entertain. I know this because since the book is about a soldier and his sea
lion being trapped in a cold setting, the author uses this to entertain, and intrigue the reader.

What did the title have to do with the book? What the title has to do with the book is inform the
reader that this book strongly encourages us to have a lot of endurance, and suffer through a
difficult, unwanted journey tolerantly.

Tell in your own words how the setting of the story made it more interesting. Be specific. The setting
of the book made it more interesting due to the fact that the cold weather makes it more gratifying,
and because I personally enjoy cold climates for a setting of something.

If one of the characters visited our classroom, what question would you ask them? (Make sure the
question relates to the plot/problem/actions of the story.) *Give the name of the character with the
question!!* The character I would choose to visit the classroom is Ryan Keene, whom is a member
of the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program. The question I would ask Ryan is how did you manage
to escape this situation?

Pretend you are a librarian recommending the book to someone. Write a paragraph telling what
you would say. If I was a librarian recommending this book to someone, I would tell them that
this book is suited for readers who enjoy warfare, or intense weather scenarios, or both. Another
fact I would say is that the main characters sidekick is a sea lion, which I believe is very neat. The
final thing I would tell them is that Ryan and his sea lion are stuck in an intense weather situation
and there is a team of mercenaries set out to get them.

If they made a movie of this book, which scene would be most important to include. Explain the
scene with details and why it's important. If a movie was made for this book, I think a scene in which
they should most definitely  include is where Ryan and Hansel manage to outwait the mercenaries
and escape.
