Name: Bryson Tucker
Title of Book: Then
Author: Morris Gleitzman
What was the problem in the book, and how was it solved? Be specific. Felix and Zelda were
running away from a nazi train that was taking them to a concentration camp.
What was the author's purpose or purposes in writing the book? Explain how you know. The
purpose was to entertain and inform. I know this because it is a historical fiction book but it is
very entertaining.
What did the title have to do with the book?
The book is part of a series, the first one was Once and this one is Then which is because a
the beginning of each chapter the word Once is the first word.
Tell in your own words how the setting of the story made it more interesting. Be specific.
The setting makes it more interesting because i love to read about the holocaust especially
poland in the 1940’s.
If one of the characters visited our classroom, what question would you ask them? (Make sure
the question relates to the plot/problem/actions of the story.) *Give the name of the character
with the question!!* If one of the characters came into the classroom i would ask Felix how
hard it was to survive and not get killed by the nazis.
Pretend you are a librarian recommending the book to someone. Write a paragraph telling
what you would say.
This book is one of the best books that i have ever read and as soon as i started reading it i
was hooked. The book is part of a series about a jewish boy that has no parents and is trying
to survive the holocaust with his 6 year old “sister”. He came to a lot of close calls of almost
getting killed but somehow manages to survive one of the most brutal times in history.
If they made a movie of this book, which scene would be most important to include. Explain the scene with details and why it's important.
The most important scene would be when Felix and Zelda meet Genia. This would be the most
important scenes because this is what pretty much the whole entire book is based around.
Your book really interested me because it had to do with the Nazis and Jews. You did a very good job on every aspect of this book report. The only thing that needs work in my opinion is the part about what does the title has to do with the book. It sort of doesn't make sense. But other than that, great job.
