Malakai Courteau's Book Report on "Pax"

Name:  Malakai Courteau

Title of Book: Pax

Author:  Sara PennyPacker

What was the problem in the book, and how was it solved? Be specific.
Peter had found a fox in the woods as he and his dad was driving down the road.  They both took the
fox home. Peter’s dad said that the fox had to go. They drove to the same road they found the fox
and left him there.  Then one morning before his dad got up Peter snuck out of the house and ran
away to find the fox. Peter took an atlas with him to know where he was going. In seven days he
found his long lost fox sitting under a tree waiting for Peter.  Peter then took the fox home and his
dad allowed the fox to stay.

What was the author's purpose or purposes in writing the book? Explain how you know.
The author’s purpose is to entertain.  I know this because it gives some fictional settings and it dosnt
give any informative information.

What did the title have to do with the book?
The title “Pax” resembled the lost fox’s name.

Tell in your own words how the setting of the story made it more interesting. Be specific.

In the story Peter had to drop the fox off at the same road he found the fox.  He then plans to skip the
first day at his new school for a week to go find the lost fox.  I like how he gets determined to go find
his lost fox instead of leaving it in the woods.

If one of the characters visited our classroom, what question would you ask them? (Make sure the
question relates to the plot/problem/actions of the story.) *Give the name of the character with the
question!!*
If Peter visited our classroom I would ask how difficult was it to be alone for a week.

Pretend you are a librarian recommending the book to someone. Write a paragraph telling what you
would say.
If I was to recommend this book to someone else i would say, “The book starts off with a fox sitting
on the side of the road near a woods.  A boy named Peter and his dad find the fox, take it home to
keep for awhile. Peter then gets told by his dad that the fox has to go. Peter then sneaks out of his
house to go look for the fox to take him home.

If they made a movie of this book, which scene would be most important to include. Explain the
scene with details and why it's important. If somebody would ever plan on making a movie about this
book they would have got to add the part where Peter goes to find Pax.  If the director never added
this part the movie would’nt really make sense just leaving Pax in the woods

  1. You did a good job, this book sounds really interesting. I like the part when his dad says he cant keep the fox, the boy runs out and gets the fox anyway.
