What was the problem in the book, and how was it solved? Be specific.

Paula Becker, is deaf, and has to to hide from the Nazi.  She becomes deaf because during pregnancy,

Paula’s mother was exposed to rubella, or German measles.  Then, at about sixteen months, she had

had a high fever, which lead to her deafness. Then during World War II, Adolf Hitler Was Germany’s

leader, and he hated people like Paula and her family. So, Hitler set up an action called T4 to kill all

of the disabled Jews.  Now in 1940, Father Joseph knocked on the door wanting to save Paule from

T4. After that, he took her to a church where she was the only disabled child there. Then when the

Nazis found out she was there her and father Joseph went to a town full of Jewish families and

stayed there. Then when the Holocaust was over,  Father Joseph brought Paula back to her family.

What was the author's purpose or purposes in writing the book? Explain how you know.

The author’s purpose is to inform you.  I know that because my book is about the Holocaust and the

Holocaust was something real.

What did the title have to do with the book?

The title “T4” means to kill the incurably ill, physically or mentally disabled, emotionally traught,

or elderly people.  Paula was physically disabled because she had hearing loss, or as we call it, she

was deaf.

Tell in your own words how the setting of the story made it more interesting. Be specific.

In the story, the setting made it very interesting because it is from the past.

I would ask her:  Paula, what was it like hiding from the Nazi, and how long would it take to travel to another church one after another?

This book is about a deaf girl, named Paula, who has to hide from the T4.  T4 stands for Tiergartenstraße 4. Tiergartenstraße 4 means to kill the incredibly ill.

If they made a movie of this book, which scene would be most important to include. Explain the

scene with details and why it's important. If this book was made into a movie the most important

scene would be Paula reuniting with her family.  It would be important because she hasn’t seen her

family in months.
