Jazlynn Knight's Book Report on "Frozen Charlotte"

Name: Jazlynn Knight

Title of Book: Frozen Charlotte

Author: Alex Bell

What was the problem in the book, and how was it solved? Be specific.
The problem in “Frozen Charlotte” is Sophie and her best friend Jay, go to a cafe and play
the Ouija Board app on Jay’s phone. Sophie had a bad feeling after this and made Jay
take his bike through the back roads instead of the highway. That night Jay’s bike went
over a cliff and he sadly drowned . Sophie now has to go to her cousin’s house on the Isle
of Skye. The house, before, was a school house. Sophie’s cousin, which she never met,
Rebecca froze to death. Her other cousins are, Cameron whose hand was burnt in a fire,
Piper who seems too perfect, and lastly the youngest, Lilias who has a fear of bones. Sophie
goes into Rebecca’s old room and sees these dolls. Lilias tells piper that they’re called ‘Frozen
Charlotte’ dolls. Immediately Sophie had a bad feeling. Throughout this story Sophie and
Lilias became very good friends. Sophie and Lilias start to hear and see things that happen
only because the dolls. Cameron tries to warn Sophie about Piper but she doesn’t believe it
until she sees what really happened the night of Rebecca’s death. Rebecca was somehow able
to show Sophie what happened that night. Sophie sees that Piper pushed Rebecca.  She knew
that the ‘Frozen Charlotte dolls were the reason Piper was acting so weird.

The solution to this problem is Sophie throws all the doll’s in Rebecca’s room into a bag and
into the ocean. Piper then gets very angry and tries to burn the house and do the same thing
she did to Piper to Sophie. She failed at both. Piper tried attacking Cameron and Sophie
intervened and killed Piper in self defense.

What was the author's purpose or purposes in writing the book? Explain how you know.
The author’s purpose of the story is to entertain. None of what happened in this story
could’ve happened in real life.

What did the title have to do with the book?
The title “Frozen Charlotte” is also the name of the dolls that control Piper to do bad things.

Tell in your own words how the setting of the story made it more interesting. Be specific.
The setting in the Isle of Skye affs to the creepiness of the story. The main setting is in
the mansion Sophie’s cousin’s mansion. Mansions are always creepy especially with a creepy
background. Their mansion’s background is an old school house. Not creepy until you know
what happened at the school house. The Frozen Charlotte dolls made one of the school girls
push  the headmistress down the stairs.
If one of the characters visited our classroom, what question would you ask them? (Make sure the
question relates to the plot/problem/actions of the story.) *Give the name of the character with
the question!!*
If Sophie’s uncle came to our class I’d ask why he never confronted Piper about dolls and
why he was never around during the whole problem.

Pretend you are a librarian recommending the book to someone. Write a paragraph telling
what you would say.
If you’re looking for a creepy, suspenseful story then Frozen Charlotte is for you. This
book is very interesting in that it is dealing with the paranormal. Frozen Charlotte is definitely
a book for the more thrill seeking people. In my opinion Frozen Charlotte is  one of the best
horror books out there. It is very engaging with the readers. This book is an eye catcher.

If they made a movie of this book, which scene would be most important to include. Explain
the scene with details and why it's important.
If they made a movie based on this book the most important scene would be the beginning of
the book at the cafe. In this scene Sophie and Jay play the ouija board app. This is when they
contact “Charlotte”, the spirit of the Frozen Charlotte dolls. During this scene it should also
include Jay riding his bike to see how he actually died versus how everyone is saying he died.
These parts would help the audience understand the later parts of the movie.
