Name: Dean Rakieski
Title of Book: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Author: J. K. Rowling
What was the problem in the book, and how was it solved? Be specific. The problem was, is that
Harry Potter was being tracked by a killer from a prison, Azkaban. The solution to that problem
was that Harry met him later and figured out that he did not want to kill Harry but his friend’s pet.
What was the author's purpose or purposes in writing the book? Explain how you know.
The book is to entertain the reader because this book is a fiction novel. And not one part of this
book is informing or persuading.
What did the title have to do with the book?
The title “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” has to do with the book because the main
character’s name is Harry Potter and in this book he his faced by a prisoner of a magical prison
called Azkaban.
Tell in your own words how the setting of the story made it more interesting. Be specific.
The setting of the story made the book more interesting because the setting is at a magic castle
guarded by these powerful creatures called “Dementors.” Everybody in the castle is trying to
protect Harry by what they think is going to kill him, the prisoner from Azkaban Sirius Black.
If one of the characters visited our classroom, what question would you ask them? (Make sure the
question relates to the plot/problem/actions of the story.) *Give the name of the character with the
question!!*
If a character from “Harry Potter” would come into my classroom it would be Harry Potter himself.
I would probably ask him how much pressure he felt in every night when a killer was after him.
Pretend you are a librarian recommending the book to someone. Write a paragraph telling wha
t you would say.
If I was a librarian recommending this book to a person I would tell them a lot. I would tell them
that it is a really good book that can give little fright every now and then. I would say, “it is about
a man named Sirius Black who escaped from a prison called Azkaban and is trying to get to Harry
Potter, the son of Sirius’s best friend. Every night Black is getting closer and closer to Harry. And
every night Harry is getting into more and more trouble. What will Happen to Harry, will he get
expelled from his third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? Or will Harry get
caught by “the killer of all time?””
If they made a movie of this book, which scene would be most important to include. Explain the
scene with details and why it's important.
There are many scenes that are important. If I would pick the most important it would be when
Harry meets face to face with Sirius Black himself. It is when Harry and his friend’s, Ron and
Hermione sneak off out of the castle to care for Harry’s friend, Hagrid’s beloved pet. It is then
when Harry stumbles across Ron’s lost pet rat. The rat leads them to this dog who has dragged
Ron into this hole under the tree. When Harry and Hermione follow they meet Sirius Black
and discover a lot of things about themselves. Then SUDDENLY IT HAPPENS…
I think this part is important because in the book this where all the previous things that happen
all make sense. You could not leave this part out of a movie and still have a good movie!
This book sounds really intriguing and suspenseful. This seems like a good book to read at any time and I assume it is a long book like other Harry Potter books. I think I might consider reading this book when I am done with my current book.
ReplyDeleteI like the detail that was put in to your answers. You put a lot of thought in what you would say to a younger kid as a librarian. I think I will like that book.
ReplyDeleteIt was very interesting and I think I´ll read it sometime in the future.
