David Smith's Book Report on "Courage and Defiance"

Name:David Smith

Title of Book:Courage and Defiance
Author: Deborah Hopkinson

What was the problem in the book, and how was it solved? Be specific.
The Problem is Nazis have just invaded Denmark and the way it was stopped was by placing spies
in Denmark, and the saboteurs  sabotaging German vehicles and supplies.

What was the author's purpose or purposes in writing the book? Explain how you know.
The author’s purpose was to inform. I knew this because of all the information was true and
there was a lot of it.

What did the title have to do with the book?
It explained who was sabotaging German vehicles and other people that were helping Denmark
resist against German forces.

Tell in your own words how the setting of the story made it more interesting. Be specific.
The setting was in Denmark during the Nazi invasion. It made it more interesting by saying
the names of spies and saboteurs such as Tommy Sneum

If one of the characters visited our classroom, what question would you ask them? (Make sure
the question relates to the plot/problem/actions of the story.) *Give the name of the character
with the question!!*
Tommy how nervous were you when you arrived in Denmark during the Nazi invasion on Denmark?

Pretend you are a librarian recommending the book to someone. Write a paragraph telling what you
would say. I would say this book, if you are looking for good information about the invasion  on
Denmark, is a good one because of a lot of information about things that happened in Denmark
and information that helped stop the invasion, but at the same time cause trouble for themselves
and other innocent people that got involved with the Nazis.

If they made a movie of this book, which scene would be most important to include. Explain the
scene with details and why it's important. If they made a movie a scene that would need to be in
it would be about a man who was transmitting radio signals and got caught and was surrounded
by hundreds of Nazis and police units. It would be important because it would show what
happened if you got caught.
